Announcing MWCA’s 2019 Reforestation Project

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is today.

We owe much to those who had the vision to nestle the neighborhood among the trees and maintain the forest over the years. It is our turn to carry on the tradition. With the hot summer sun beating down, our shade trees show one of their many benefits. We enjoy this beautiful forested neighborhood but to keep it that way we must replace trees that are lost to age, disease and storms. This Fall the Magnolia Woods Civic Association is sponsoring the 8th annual Neighborhood Reforestation Project. The MWCA provides native trees free to Magnolia Woods residents to plant in their yards.

For the next month we will take requests on a first come first served basis for trees to be delivered in October. We will provide 25-30 trees depending on the cost. You may choose a tree from the list of recommended trees or request another species and we will try to accommodate. We only provide native trees because of their hardiness and habitat value. We will also provide planting instructions and planting assistance for those who are unable to plant their new trees. Please contact Jim Wilkins at wilkinsjg@cox.net or 225-571-6852 to make your tree selection.
