Magnolia Woods Civic Association Events

The MWCA has sponsored many activities over the years to foster neighborhood communications. Early on, a system of block and street captains kept residents connected, and a neighborhood newsletter (the Neighbor) was established to update residents on upcoming events. Today the board primarily relies on the neighborhood website (MWCA.net), Nextdoor.com, and the Magnolia Woods Facebook page to keep neighbors connected.

The association has initiated many events and activities over the years including:

  • Neighborhood Watch and Citizens on Patrol programs to deter crime
  • A reforestation program to restore and maintain the neighborhood’s urban tree canopy
  • A Magnolia Woods entrance marker at the corner of Magnolia Woods Drive and Highland Road
  • Periodic “Fire Ant Funerals” (a program aimed at reducing infestations by spreading fire ant sterilant throughout the neighborhood)
  • Twice-annual neighborhood garage sales
  • Twice annual Trash Bashes to keep the neighborhood free of litter
  • An annual Halloween Party for neighborhood children
  • A Neighborhood Christmas Party in conjunction with the annual membership meeting
